Do you want to make a difference, represent student voices, and shape the future of Glasgow Kelvin College?

Nominations for Student President (2026-27) open on Monday, 27th April and run until Friday, 8th May. 

Elections will take place from Tuesday, 26th May – Friday, 29th May.Β Nominate yourself for one of the following positions within the Students’ Association:

  • President of Welfare, Community & Sustainability (Full-Time, 35 hours per week)
  • President of Learning & Teaching (Part-Time, 17.5 hours per week)

πŸ“Œ What Does a Student President Do?

As a Student President, you will:

  • Represent the Student Body – Be the voice of your fellow students in important decisions.
  • Work with College Leadership – Sit on the Board of Management and help shape policies and improvements.
  • Lead Student Activities – Organise events, promote student welfare, and drive learner engagement.
  • Gather the Student Voice – Collect feedback through surveys, focus groups, class representatives and open forums like Meet the Managers.

  1. Check Your Eligibility – Any current student at Glasgow Kelvin College can stand.
  2. Submit Your Nomination – Complete this nomination Form (available from Monday, 27th April 2026 until Friday 08th May)

  4. Prepare for Hustings – Share your ideas and plans with fellow students.

  • Induction Programme (if elected) – Including:

❓ FAQs

Who can run for Student President?

Any current enrolled student at Glasgow Kelvin College is eligible to apply.

Candidates for the part-time position must remain enrolled during their term.

Pre-enrolled students for the next academic year may vote but are not eligible to stand for election.

What is the time commitment?

There are 2 roles: one full time (35 hours per week) and one part-time (17.5 hours per week).

If elected, the term of office shall be from 1st July 2026 until 30th June 2027.

Elected officers cannot hold office as Student President for more than 2 years in total, with re-election at the end of year 1.

The roles require regular student engagement and representation throughout the academic year, including attendance at Board meetings and Student Association activities.

Can I get support if I’m unsure about running?

Absolutely! We offer briefing sessions to guide you through the process and answer your questions.

How will I be trained if I’m elected?

You will receive a comprehensive induction programme covering college structures, staff policies, and leadership responsibilities.

How do I vote?

Voting will be open from Tuesday 26th May – Friday, 29th May 2026.
