Built on a shared commitment to tackling poverty and supporting long-term income progression, the collaboration will explore how relational mentoring can be embedded alongside College provision. This approach aims to better support learners who may face barriers beyond the classroom.

By working together, the partnership will focus on improving student retention, supporting progression into employment and apprenticeships, and contributing to wider national priorities around prevention and reducing child poverty.

Joanna:  Hello, I'm Joanna Campbell. I'm the principal of Glasgow Kelvin College. Our mission is to transform lives through education.

We believe that by signing this agreement with The Wise Group, it's an intention of us to do more together. We will be impactful by working together.

Sean:  Hi, I'm Sean Duffy, Chief Executive of The Wise Group. This agreement that we've reached with Glasgow Kelvin College is very important.

Our main mission in life is to transform people's lives and lift them out of poverty. One of our greatest challenges is access. This partnership gives us access to learners and their families.

Joanna:  We operate in the northeast of Glasgow. 41% of our students are coming from the most deprived, profound backgrounds in Scotland.

We are hoping to provide additional support to those learners that engage in our community hubs, which we operate in our Springburn and our Easterhouse campus.

The agreement is to provide mentoring support to those individuals and their family. The relational mentoring programme will mean that those individuals will have access to a support mechanism.

Sean:  The support that we'll provide, based around relational mentoring, is an evidence-based model that helps through a needs assessment approach to identify what's required to make sure that people are successful in their journey.

Looking at the complexity of households and understanding the interplay of that complexity in terms of identified needs and working with those in a sustainable and progressive way.
